“Preparing all students to be COLLEGE READY, CAREER READY, and LIFE READY”
To enhance the safety of everyone at Murrow HS, each exit door has been installed with an alarm. Only the main entrance (East 17th Street) is to be used during the school day. We will continue to open certain exits during student entry and dismissal (two entrances on Chestnut and the entrance on East 17th Street), and the Avenue L entrance will be open during the day only for students to use to go to physical education classes outside, and during dismissal. Please remind your children to only use authorized doors during the school day. Each door with an alarm has a sign on it indicating that it is for emergency use only, and doors that are authorized during entry and dismissal have signs on them indicating what times they are in use.
Thank you for your cooperation helping to keep all of our children and staff safe. Any questions can be directed to Ms. Giberga, AP of Security, at firstname.lastname@example.org.

SLT Minutes for April 14, 2016
On behalf of the exceptional faculty and staff of Edward R. Murrow High School, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2015-2016 school year. We are very proud of the 40 years of educational excellence that has come to define our community and we are eager and excited to continue our efforts to make Edward R. Murrow High School the best comprehensive high school in New York City.
“Edward R. Murrow High School is a large community with a small school feeling” (NYC Schools Chancellor – 4/4/2013). Our community consists of individuals who are committed to providing the CARE needed to prepare all students to be COLLEGE READY, CAREER READY, and LIFE READY. This commitment extends well beyond our classroom walls. With a wide range of award winning teams, clubs, activities and events in addition to our renowned visual and performing arts programs, Edward R. Murrow High School affords all students the chance to feel involved and invested in their high school experience.
This year our efforts will continue to add to our students’ overall learning experience with a state of the art Planetarium, the development of a new digital media program, more internships in various fields, and a Writer’s Institute. I invite you all to explore our website (ermurrowhs.org) to follow all the wonderful news and announcements of our community and learn more about the tradition of excellence that sets our school apart from other schools in New York City. Please remember that you can also download the Edward R. Murrow app to get information about our community on your smartphones as well.
