Students apply to Edward R. Murrow High School online, through MySchools. Every student is to list 12 High Schools in prioritized order. Specialized high schools do not count as one of the 12 choices. The New York City Department of Education matches students to a High School based on seat availability, and the student’s prioritized list. Edward R. Murrow High School’s Communication Arts Program (K57A) is and Ed Opt Program. Ed. Opt. programs admit students across all academic levels. Students are grouped into Low, Middle, and High categories by the New York City Department of Education, based on a composite of their academic data. One-third of offers are made to students in each category. Only Brooklyn students or Brooklyn residents are eligible to apply to Edward R. Murrow High School’s Communication Arts Program.
